News Event: SL10B Linden Bears

STORYLINE: "What?  You never saw a bear jump out of cake before?" Takes a piece of cake. "I'll have you know, I happen to be quite delicious. And once I am done eating myself, I will be a butt nakkid bear. Weeee!"

This new free bear Linden Bear avatar is awesome. Run go get it while it is up on the marketplace. The bear comes with materials to create a fur effect. The bear is available until the end of June. Also available is the Rez Day Birthday Cake. It seems to know how old you are! The look of the cakes changes based on your age. Very cool! Touch it and it gives you piece of cake and a spoon. Shown on the ground are the Linden Bears collected by my buddy Voodoo over the years.

News Report: Server Side Baking Apocalypse

In the next few months, Linden Labs will switch the way avatars are loaded inworld. The goal of this change is to speed up the time it takes to render an avatar, and to stop bake fails. The downside of this major update is it will cause a lot of pain until the bugs are all worked out. You will be forced to upgrade your viewer or you will not see textures on your avatar, or alpha masks that hide your shape below a mesh. You will appear as a cloud or grey. Expect bug and/or crashes in all viewers across the board until the bugs are fixed. Many of your favorite viewers, or older viewers, will become unusable because they aren't updated to SSB.

Bloggers will be greatly effected. I personally will loose the ability to take lighting and shadow photographs unless Linden fixes the bug that crashes Macs on the current viewer code, or any viewer that uses the current code.

Check each viewer log for the latest news. Master list of 3rd Party Viewers.

Here are some news briefs:
Firestorm will update to SSB but they warn it will not be quality tested as much as they like before a major rollout. Mac version.
Phoenix 1.5 and Phoenix 1.6 are no longer being updated, therefore will not have SSB. Mac version.
Exodus update on SSB unknown. Has Tone Mapping. Mac version.
Nirans may update only once more, but it is unknown if the update will include SSB. No Mac version.
Cool Viewer is ready to go with SSB. No Mac version.

Anubis Air

Anubis may be a fearsome immortal, but even one as anicent as him can be an excited puppy when trying the latest toy the humans invented.

The hoverboard is part of a pack from Linden Labs and available for free download at Amazon.com. The deal ends January 29. Go here to read more: Limited Time Offer.  I love this beautiful Anubis Mecha by Lost Haven, but for me it works best for picture taking and not role play because the mesh is very dense.

"No, dont leave me!" she cried and ran after me. Before I could take off, she lunged at my plane. I could not believe my eyes when I saw this crazy lady had grabbed onto the wing! But it was too late to slow down, the wheels were already off the runway. The added weight caused the plane to dip dangerously to the side. I almost crashed in the ocean! ...And that was tamest thing that happened in the next 30 minutes of the Silver Baron's Wild Ride.  lol

The new premium gift has been released, a very cool World War 1 airplane. It's easy to fly. Sounds great. It seats one, but your buddies can also ride by hanging on for dear life on the wing. lol  You can take off the new premium Orville airport and fly over several connecting premium lands. The hangers and air traffic control tower are also in a 1920s style. Many people were there today. It was like a spontaneous air show. Cool!
